Set of 6 salad or dessert plates Red transferware made between 1836-38 "Abbey Ruins" Thomas Mayer Longport England. Staffordshire pottery with a Pastoral scene of cows next to a whimsical Folly arch and floral border, Chinoiserie style. 7 1/4" diameter. There is faint crazing on the plates and no chips or cracks. Amazing condition for almost 200 hundred years old!

Thomas Mayer Co. were Manufacturers of earthenware at Stoke c.1826-35 and then at Longport c.1836-38
Mayer's printed earthenware was of good quality and he enjoyed a large export trade.
He extensively exported to the United States of America and American devices occur in some marks.
